This started with a bias however, as only the elit kept dogs either as companion animals or for hunting purposes. Therefore, in a sense, pet keeping was a sign of class within the then civilization of Britain.
As you would have known, there probably wouldn't be an evolution in one facet of life that's wouldn't cut accross others, modern pet keeping had its effect on economic, social and cultural aspects.
Modern pet keeping kept evolving as humans civilization evolved and with the appearance of lower econonomic starters in the society that initiated the rise of middle class societal members.
This opened the was for Pets to became part and passel of brirish culture as beautifying objects, and as a business niche through sales of many wild animals and associated goods
Reports has it that the number of individuals involved in trade of Animals in London grew massively to almost 20,000 by the mid 19th century. 😲
